THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

We’re on a journey of packaging innovation that does not compromise the quality of our butter, or the world around us.

We are developing a range of innovative solutions that provide more sustainable packaging, without compromising the high quality of LURPAK.

We aim to make all of the packaging used for LURPAK fully circular (fully recyclable & not using virgin fossil-based plastic) by 2030.

This means we are actively exploring more sustainable solutions and innovations across all of our packaging types globally, while ensuring they preserve the quality our products are famous for.

Our LURPAK Spreadable tubs are made from polypropylene (PP), a material that is recyclable in many markets, ensuring that over 300 million of the packs we produce annually are designed for recycling. To further reduce our environmental impact, we’re working very hard together with our suppliers towards the transition to recycled plastic (rPP). We will implement this change as soon as the material is available in sufficient quantity and quality. In the meantime, we are continuously working on
reducing the amount of plastic used for our tubs.

For our mini portions, we’re working to switch to polypropylene (PP) material (which is recyclable in many markets) by 2026 and ultimately, to move to recycled PP (rPP) material once it is readily available in the market. With quality at the heart of everything we do, maintaining product freshness is crucial: this makes foil packaging a challenge. We’re currently collaborating with a range of leading industry partners to develop a more sustainable solution that still meets our quality standards and we hope to start rolling it out by 2026.

Our continued focus on packaging innovation will allow you to continue enjoying the quality that LURPAK has always been known for, with packaging that’s fit for the future.
